The Wake County school board race is history, but it is still a hot topic in the news. The N&O headlines and the other local media continually tell us that the Democrats have taken control of the Wake school board. I ask: What happened to the nonpartisan label of this and other elections?
Voters are led to believe that individuals running for some political office are nonpartisan, unbiased and only care about the children or the people they are going to represent. If these are nonpartisan positions, why is every candidate’s political affiliation published or noted in the local media?
Elections are never nonpartisan, so it is time to end the myth of nonpartisan elections.
