As Democrats in Washington conspired to use unconstitutional means to approve a massive government overhaul of American health care, John Locke Foundation President John Hood declared in a Daily Journal column: “I will not comply.” The nation’s No. 1 conservative radio talk-show host, Rush Limbaugh, took note, mentioning both Hood and CarolinaJournal.com on his syndicated program. The News & Observer noticed Limbaugh’s comments, publicizing them in the “Under the Dome” blog and in print. The Wilmington Star-News‘ “Cape Fear Watchdogs” blog also highlighted Hood’s work after Limbaugh discussed the column. The Mint Hill Times and Mecklenburg County Republican Party spotlighted the Hood-Limbaugh connection. Hood discussed the column with Bill LuMaye on WPTF Radio. Later in the week, he discussed the topic with WBAL in Baltimore. Lucianne.com publicized the column, as did N.C. Senate Republicans in one of their daily e-mails. (Senate Republicans also promoted this week a separate column from Hood on the sorry state of North Carolina’s Escheat Fund.) Hood also took his message of noncompliance to National Review Online’s blog, “The Corner,” where readers prompted him to form the “I Will Not Comply” Facebook page, which had attracted more than 4,200 fans at last count. The NRO post helped spread the message throughout the blogosphere. Blogs that cited Hood, agreed with him, or critiqued him include: Carolina Politics Online, Black Political Buzz, Top Conservative Blogs, Liberal Whoppers, World Actual News, Weekend Pundit, Ron Paul Forums, American Grand Jury, Defund & Disobey, The Real Revo, Hal Weatherman’s Weathervane, Politicaljunkie Mom, Cold Fury, Paco Enterprises, The Crossed Pond, and No More Mr. Nice Blog.
