The new meme in Washington is to blame stalemate on the Tea Party, which Harry Reid and Chuck Schumer claim are “controlling” Republicans. The media, predictably, have jumped on this and repeated it from sea to shining sea.
But what about who controls Democratic lawmakers?:
[T]he FAA Reauthorization and Reform Act is scheduled for a vote today. However, the White House is now stating that it is likely the President will veto the legislation if a provision that gives union bosses the ability to more easily unionize airline (and railroad) employees is not removed.
Somehow that’s not a big news story. That millions of individuals fed up with wasteful government spending could make their views known via the ballot box and get legislators to listen to them is considered by liberals and the media as somehow a bastardization of democracy.
But a thuggish interest group in collusion with lawmakers to take money out of taxpayers’ pockets is unremarkable. Figures.
