New York’s Transit Workers Union has done it — called a strike just at the time when it will do the most damage.

In today’s Wall Street Journal, Manhattan Institute’s Steven Malanga has a terrific column entitled “What Would Reagan Do?” The answer: fire any who continue to strike and fine the union. That’s step one. Then open up the transit market to competition and privatize the city’s bus and subway operations.

I am betting against New York’s jello-like politicians doing anything of the kind. They want to appear “reasonable” and will therefore continue to allow the union to extort the city’s taxpayers.
