Professor William Anderson notes here that the regime is trying to push through a slightly revised version of a statute that the Supreme Court recently declared unconstitutionally vague — the “Honest Services” law. This terrifyingly vague statute gives prosecutors limitless power to dredge up spurious cases against anyone they want to “get.”

I can understand why, back in 2008, some people might have thought Obama had a civil libertarian streak in him. After all, he had been a “constitutional law professor” at a famous school. That’s not exactly true, but even if it were, we now know beyond any doubt that Obama is all about expanding the power of the state. Nothing else matters.
