An announcement by the City of Raleigh:

On March 3, the Raleigh City Council received a report on the Comprehensive Bicycle Transportation Plan.

The City of Raleigh in collaboration with the North Carolina Department of Transportation, Division of Bicycle and Pedestrian Transportation developed the citywide bicycle plan to create an integrated, seamless transportation framework to facilitate cycling as a viable transportation alternative throughout the City. The City’s last bicycle plan was adopted in 1991 and incorporated in the City’s Comprehensive Plan. The new plan was developed with considerable public input through focus group meetings, online comment, public workshops and a project steering committee appointed by the City Council. A few more months of our president and congressional leaders running the Keynesian economic freight train over us, and bycling will be the only viable transportation alternative throughout the city.
