Minor league sports. Football, hockey, baseball, you name it. The recession has arrived. And teams — and even leagues — aren’t anymore. A couple thousands fans a night times 30+ dates a year (for hockey) adds up.

Bonus observation: Look for some forth and fifth-tier bowl games to disappear as well. And yes, the Random Automotive Product Bowl in Charlotte is vulnerable.

Update: Here’s a list of bowls for 2008/09. The Random Automotive Product Bowl is tied for 19th in payout with the St. Pete Bowl, the Las Vegas Bowl, and the EagleBank Bowl.
