There’s been a propaganda sighting at the Uptown paper of record. And for once it is not smuggled in.

This editorial acknowledges that maybe, just maybe Charlotte city officials need to try to be neutral on the half-cent transit tax issue when taxpayer-supported organs are disseminating their views.

The paper essentially backs an “equal time” rule when it comes to spreading viewpoints on the half-cent repeal issue. Fair enough. But watch those city-backed channels now go dark on the issue entirely as the paid-media machine steps in to pick up the slack for the pro-tax, pro-CATS side.

Further, watch this editorial mark the high-water mark in the paper’s interest in the use — and abuse — of public assets for political purposes right through until November’s vote.
