In the midst of the decision by Fish & Wildlife Service to classify
the Polar Bear as a threatened species, everyone seems to be forgetting
that these gentle ursae of the north ain’t got it so bad. Besides
their steady increase in population over the last few years, their
popularity has never been greater!
They have become international
superstars as the flagship mascot of the world’s foremost American
icon, Coca-Cola. As well, they played the lead role in the smash
box-office hit, An Inconvenient Truth. Heck, besides
their occasional gorging on the once beloved baby seals, these guys
couldn’t be more in the limelight. I think that Glenn Beck would agree with me that these bears are once again enjoying the benefits of stardom.
