The Hendersonville Lightning has an article today that seems pretty lame, like most defense mechanisms do. It is merely saying a Henderson County Commissioner will be patched in to the next meeting for a vote while he is away on vacation. The article, by its mere existence, is helping prevent what happened in Davidson County. Over yonder, the Republican Party executive committee agreed to let voting member Dwight Story be patched in for the election of a successor when House District 80’s Representative Jerry Dockham accepted a job with the NC Utilities Commission. Then, the five members present reneged on their word to let him vote 3-2, and the successor won by another 3-2 vote. Need I say whether the successor was one of the 3’s or 2’s? Anyway, said successor went on to run for re-election, and I’ll leave it at that to keep BCRA from complaining.
