If teachers really want to belong to a group that uses money they pay to it for purposes such as helping to lobby for minimum wage increases, nothing should stop them. In many states, however, they have to fork money over to their state NEA affiliates if they want to keep their jobs. The root of the evil here isn’t money — it’s coercion.
