A Western Carolina U. professor, Thomas Ford, is sharing a $300,000 National Science Foundation grant to “expand research into how sexist humor contributes to imbalanced relations between men and women.”

Research participants “will watch videos, listen to jokes, complete questionnaires and perform other tasks to help the researchers determine how exposure to sexist humor affects perceptions of women and discrimination against them.”

I think Ford and his partner could have spared us the waste of taxpayers’ money. If there was ever a research project that could self-finance, this is it. They could just charge admission to comedy clubs, tell their jokes, and give out free drinks for filling out the questionnaires.
