From yesterday’s Chapel Hill Herald comes an illustrative quote from John Kramer about one of the things that’s wrong with the state’s annexation law. Kramer was recently annexed into Carrboro. He wanted to run in the Board of Alderman election but was rejected because — in an interesting twist of the law — he’s not officially a resident of Carrboro until after the election.
“It’s bloody ironic. First we had no say in the annexation then we want to become part of the community and we can’t.”
