It’s official. Bryan Freeborn, who came in fourth place in the Asheville City Council election, has asked for a vote recount. He wants to use his 74 vote shortfall to test the accuracy of the vote tallying.

Freeborn is the Progressive who, just days before the election, defended his comment about “the illusion of property rights” on the area’s most listened to radio talk show, “Take a Stand” with Matt Mittan. If successful, Freeborn would displace Bill Russell. Russell ran a middle-of-the-road campaign and is criticized by Progressives for wanting Asheville to have a more business-friendly atmosphere.
