For decades, the Greek government followed the statist model — high government spending, a big public workforce with generous benefits, lots of bureaucratic obstacles to free enterprise, and so on. Now the results are hitting home with widespread rioting and violence.
If you polled the OWS protesters, I suspect most of them would approve since they believe that wealth comes from government and should never be denied to anyone except the rich.
