Or should I say Meckgate? I’m beyond disappointed that The Charlotte Observer opted to dredge up an odious — and ancient! — Paul Krugman column for Sunday. You know the one that we, along with half the Internet, dismembered, oh, three or four weeks ago now? The one where Krugman tries to argue quite disingenuously that Toyota opted to put a plant in Canada because workers in the South are too dumb, because they are taxed too lightly, to build cars? Yeah, that one. Evidently counts as news down on Tryon Street.

Or it could be the Observer felt deficient in what the Aniston (Alabama) Star called “Dixie bashing” and turned to madman Krugman for some hatchet work. Whatever. Like I said, beyond disappointing.
