An LTE of the Mountain Xpress signed by one Andrew Dahm criticizes the proposed increase in the hotel occupancy tax from 4% to 6%. He looks at things globally and sees taxpayers will be funding the city services tourists require, like sending their trash to the dumps and handling their emergency service calls. It is a valid point, but I don’t know that motels get that many police and fire calls – except for the drug dens.
