Evidently Alamance County has local needs such as police and fire well under control. The county has now renovated a space and is operating it as a gym for employees, reportedly to improve morale.
County Human Resources Director Sherry Hook said most of the exercise equipment, including weights, was donated by the nonprofit group Be Active NC. Hook said the remaining equipment was purchased by the county using available grant funds.
The space was formerly used by youth services. Hook said the county’s maintenance department renovated three rooms now being used for the employee gym.
“The project was part of our facilities improvement plan,” Hook said.
