The state treasurer, Internet sweepstakes, and ‘Taxmageddon’ attract CJ’s attention
The Mooresville Tribune recently published Carolina Journal Managing Editor Rick Henderson‘s column questioning State Treasurer Janet Cowell’s probe into large corporations’ political contributions. N.C. Senate Republicans promoted Associate Editor Dan Way‘s article on Lumberton’s legal defense of its business privilege license policy for Internet sweepstakes parlors.
The Senate GOP also highlighted Associate Editor Barry Smith‘s report on the potential impact for North Carolina of the “Taxmageddon” associated with the potential end of Bush-era tax cuts, along with the transcript of a Carolina Journal Radio interview with George Mason University economist Donald Boudreaux, who explains how Western societies have been “cleaned by capitalism.”
The Portland Press Herald cited Publisher Jon Ham‘s recent mock Newsweek cover of President Obama, while the Talking About Politics blog featured Executive Editor Don Carrington‘s photo of a bald eagle.
