Retired University of California-Irvine economist Richard McKenzie, a Raleigh native who grew up in a North Carolina orphanage, has spent nearly two decades dispelling myths about orphanages. His latest effort is a book titled Miracle Mountain that tells the story of western North Carolina’s Crossnore School.
McKenzie shared themes from the book today during a presentation to the John Locke Foundation’s Shaftesbury Society. In the video clip below, he discusses the types of children who end up at the Crossnore School.
