Greg Simons, the owner of a Davidson County diner, some of whose non-English speaking Hispanic customers were offended when his wait staff couldn’t understand Spanish, decided, as a result, not to serve anyone who couldn’t order in English. He put a sign up on his door announcing the new policy:

”They got offended because we couldn’t speak any Spanish. They were frustrated. I was frustrated as well and they left. Unfortunately I don‘t have anybody here that’s bilingual,” Simons said.

Typically, he was bombarded with threats and had a brick thrown through his window by people who thought he was being unreasonable. There is no mention of any investigation into the threats or the brick through the window, making news reports read as if this reaction was fully justified:

He posted a sign in his restaurant which read, “No Speak English, No Service.” But just yesterday, he was forced to take the sign down after he was bombarded with complaints and threats. Someone even threw a brick through his window, according to The Dispatch, a Davidson County newspaper.

By what politically correct insane calculus is Simons, the owner of the Reedy Creek Family Diner, the unreasonable one? Why should an American citizen have to take abuse from “guests” in this country because his wait staff can’t speak the language of a foreign country? Go to France sometime and try that, folks.

Simons’ sign, by the way, was translated into several languages, so it couldn’t be considered racist or limited to one language group. Of course, all the news reports center on the Spanish portion, most showing only that part of the sign. Such is the power of the Hispanic lobby and their lefty brick-throwing supporters.

The compulsion to put Spanish signs on everything in this country and require teachers to translate everything they hand out is simply inexplicable. There are dozens, maybe hundreds, of languages represented by immigrants in this country. Why did Spanish become so special? Why did Spanish-speaking people become the only immigrant group that we felt couldn’t learn English. How condescending is that?
