The call to raise taxes continues from pro-government forces. So why don’t those who think more revenue is the answer to societal problems simply voluntarily pay more themselves? In this report from 2007, JLF’s Joe Coletti reported that while the state of North Carolina doesn’t accept voluntary contributions above a person’s liability, counties and school systems do. But those who talk really loud don’t appear to put their money where their mouths are. At least not in Wake County, when Coletti looked at the data from the past few years.
