Congressman Mark Meadows (R-NC) is a founding member of the new House Freedom Caucus. The group claims to support “accountable and limited government,” the Constitution,” “the rule of law,” and “liberty,” among other things.
The mere existence of this caucus is evidence that folks are voting for mongrels they expect to be recklessly lawless as they spit on the Constitution and follow in the footsteps of the likes of Chairman Mao. That oath of office and the pledge are just incantations to make the Wee People bow and cower in the presence of elected awesomeness. Yeah, I’d be excited about a politician actually knowing the law of the land, except that in politics, words usually mean the opposite, promises are lies designed to garner votes, and all that jazz.
Then again, it is not the role of government to contain government. That would be like fighting fire with fire.
