President Obama gets higher marks than either the Democrats or Republicans in Congress on being “truly serious” about reducing the budget deficit, according to a new bipartisan Fox News poll. A bare majority of respondents believe he is serious. The response is interesting because, when Americans are asked about how Obama is handling various aspects of the presidency, his marks on handling the deficit are among his lowest. In a separate question in a poll from Fox News, 37 percent of respondents said they agreed more with the Democrats in Congress when it comes to handling the country’s debt limit and making cuts in federal spending, 25 percent said they agree with the Republicans, and 18 percent agree with the Tea Party supporters in Congress.
