For those with no sense of humor and who see every single utterance as a look into a candidate’s soul, Mitt Romney’s cookie-bashing comment in Pennsylvania represented more fodder for mindless and ridiculous proclamations about the presumed presidential nominee. But guess how the bakery owners reacted? They didn’t endlessly pout, say it’s  not fair, or join the growing ranks of Americans who embrace victimhood and seek opportunities to be offended. No, the bakery owners used their heads, saw the opportunity, and are promoting the bakery via Romney’s comment. Good for them!

“It seemed like maybe he should have tasted them first before making the assumption,” Julie Lytle, who handles marketing for Bethel Bakery, said.

But the bakery took Romney’s joke and ran with it, launching a “CookieGate” promotion that gives customers a free half-dozen cookies for each dozen they purchase.

“We’re just having fun with it,” Lytle told CNN.

Walsh got the last word on the matter, telling the Wall Street Journal, “Let him eat cake next time.”

I suspect there’s a visit from Romney in this bakery’s future. Now if we could just get others in our entitlement society to take this same approach: stop whining, stop blaming others, stop embracing victimhood, and get on with pursuing dreams and a happy, productive life.
