According to the News & Observer, that’s the reaction from Dawn Graff of the parent group Wake CARES to today’s 4-3 North Carolina Supreme Court ruling against the parents and in favor of the Wake County school system. The ruling gives the system the authority to assign kids to year-round schools without parent permission.
I am a staunch supporter of parental choice in education, yet I have long maintained that I don’t see any difference between the authority to assign students to a traditional calendar and the authority to assign kids to a year-round calendar.
The controvery over school board policy and approach should be settled at the ballot box, where the people will decide one way or the other. It looks as if that will happen this fall.
