House votes to adjourn.  As Marc Basnight said on the Senate’s adjournment, “A job was done.”

During this 2009 long session there were lots of bills that passed (smoking ban, $19 Billion budget) and lots that didn’t (annexation, eminent domain), here is a brief update on the bills we’ve been following during the last week or so:

SB 20, Public Financing for State Treasurer’s Race and Changes to Insurance Commissioner funding:  Was not taken up.

SB 967/H 1099, Alcoa takeover:  Was not taken up.

HB 530/SB 580, Life Science Development Loan Act:  Pulled before a vote was taken, Calendared for short session

HB 884, JMAC, $8 Million paper plant giveaway: passed 72-41

Both the Senate and the House will meet briefly tomorrow to ratify some bills and take care of some procedural matters, but the business of the 2009 long session is over.

However, don’t rest too easy.  They’ll be back May 12, 2010.
