Think Pat McCrory Will Try This?

Hey, the city of Charlotte is already on the hook for at least a $1 million to help house about 3,000 Katrina evacuees, just hoping that FEMA will pick up the tab. The mayor of Houston is being a bit more proactive.

Mayor Bill White is calling on FEMA to fund a $6.5 million anti-crime task force targeting the apartment complexes where many of the 100,000 to 150,000 former New Orleans residents landed. Houston is also blaming its surging murder rate on the newcomers.

That’s it! Charlotte has a surging murder rate too! We can blame the Katrina people for that, keep Charlotte qua Charlotte spotless, and maybe get a sweet bailout. C’mon Pat! Get crackin’!
