Regarding my earlier post on the inability of students (and adults) to think through the long-term consequences of political intervention, read Kathryn Jean Lopez’s NRO column on the way the Democrats are dancing the jitterbug on the allegedly unfair wage gap between men and women. This “issue” has debunked over and over, and anyone who grasps even the most basic concepts from Econ 101 understands that governmental intervention in the labor market by having bureaucrats override the laws of supply and demand will be detrimental to just about everyone. But none of that matters when a political party thinks there is advantage in appealing to ignorance and emotion.
