Today, the Chapel Hill council will close the doors to the public to discuss the police response to the November squatter/anarchist takeover of private property. Will the council discuss hiring an outside investigator as the anti-police, pro-squatters/anarchists group wants? I’m no expert in open meeting law, but  it’s clear the council wants to discuss something it doesn’t want the public to hear. From the Herald-Sun:

In a letter to Mayor Mark Kleinschmidt and the Town Council, Town Attorney Ralph Karpinos said the meeting would give Police Chief Chris Blue, Town Manager Roger Stancil and the Police Department’s chief legal advisor a chance to “provide information and responses to council questions and concerns” about the Nov. 13 incident, which resulted in the arrest of several anti-capitalist anarchist who broke into the formal car dealership and “occupied” it.

So why won’t the council talk about its “questions and concerns” out in the open?
