While many state lawmakers will be happy about the accomplishments of the legislative session that ended last night, this weekend’s edition of Carolina Journal Radio will highlight a couple of major items that fell by the wayside in the session’s closing days.
Kieran Shanahan of the N.C. Property Rights Coalition and Joyce Krawiec of N.C. Freedom Works discuss last-minute efforts to secure Senate action on a constitutional amendment limiting eminent domain power. (The Senate ended up taking no action.) Meanwhile, Rep. Bryan Holloway, R-Stokes, discusses a bill targeting illegal immigrants jailed on felony and drunk driving charges. (That bill cleared neither chamber.)
Looking forward, Joe Coletti discusses the need to reform the state’s mental health reforms, George Leef questions the need for organized sports teams at community colleges, and Robert Novak discusses the presidential race.
