Harvard’s president Larry Summers has submitted his resignation rather than continue to face the relentless hostility of the faculty. Most of the faculty, at least. He had his backers, but they were no match for the lynch mob mentality of the majority, outraged over Summers’ transgressions against their deeply held beliefs. In that, the Harvard faculty bears a considerable resemblance to the rioting mobs in the Muslim world.
