State history professor Holly Brewer that N.C. high school history classes minimize the founding of our country to teach more recent topics, another downer about history instruction, this time in the state’s community colleges, comes courtesy of the N.C. State history department. In an article called “Seamless Transition Between Schools Needs More Stitching,” Jane Shaw discusses a study by a State grad student that claims students who transfer from community colleges are often woefully unprepared for State’s history classes.
