State House Speaker Thom Tillis, R-Mecklenburg, devoted a 20-minute news briefing this afternoon to what he’s dubbed “Education Week” at the General Assembly, when superintendents, principals, and teachers from all 115 public school districts across the state will meet with legislators in Raleigh.

Tillis also discussed his top education priorities and answered questions about topics including the impact of federal sequestration on state education spending, the prospects for virtual charter schools, and the likelihood of the House and Senate working together on a comprehensive education reform package.
