The Rhino Times once again bores into the deep truth of CMS’ security problems. Peter Gorman absolutely must tackle this issue head-on, without spin. The details:

During a nine-month stretch from September 2005 to May 2006, police responded to more than 1,000 incidents of alleged criminal activity at Charlotte-Mecklenburg high schools ranging from arson and sexual offenses to burglary, larceny, robbery, vandalism, disorderly conduct, and including 258 assaults of some type, according to police records.

Given the approximate 168 school days during that time frame, the numbers translate into a composite average of six police responses per day to Charlotte-Mecklenburg high schools.

Let’s all agree that police calls to high schools should be rare and not business-as-usual stuff. Unless CMS highs really are supposed to be holding pens for young criminals.
