Breaking news: the state’s quasi-union for teachers is opposed to policy changes proposed by the Wake school board.

Now for a dose of facts. Here is what the NCAE teachers are defending: the 4-year graduation rate for economically disadvantaged students in Wake County is just 59.7 percent.

In Charlotte/Mecklenburg, where the system has has a greater number of low-income kids and does not bus them around for economic diversity’s sake, the 4-year graduation rate is 59.8 percent. By the way, that’s the nationally-recognized Charlotte/Meck system.
