Jerry VeHaun, introduced as the mayor of Woodfin though he is also the county’s Emergency Services director, reported to the Buncombe County Commissioners the completion of work cleaning the county’s rivers. The work had been funded by an extra $1,090,000 Bruce Goforth (D-Buncombe) had found in the state’s budget at VeHaun’s prodding. Local Democrats are divided over fellow-Democrat Patsy Keever’s intentions to run for Goforth’s seat. The presentation sounded like an ad (supporting the guy who brings home the bacon).
