Asheville can expect hundreds of Secret Service agents, highway shutdowns, rooftop snipers, and more this weekend as the president visits. Persons attempting to approach the Grove Park Inn, where the president will be staying, will be searched. Secret Service agents will occupy dozens of rooms at the same resort. The passive voice of the Citizen-Times suspects:

The Secret Service and Federal Bureau of Investigation probably have been conducting threat assessments and looking at the backgrounds of any locals who may have posed a threat to the president in the past,

and

anybody . . . who could possibly have contact with the president will be checked out.

Nobody wants to venture how much the security will cost. Nobody has to because taxpayers are here for the fleecing.

As an aside, the article referenced in this post kept conjuring memories of Dr. Johnny Fever trying to say, “booger.” I’m not threatening to say “booger” to the president while he’s in town to instigate neurotic overreaction. I might have become a great musician or physicist if I hadn’t gotten sidetracked into defending liberty by a couple of overzealous and classless TSA agents.
