I think that’s what I just heard former Va. governor Mark Warner say in his keynote speech at the Democratic National Convention. He was bragging about bringing broadband to every rural area of Virginia during his term as governor. Then he said : “If you can bring a job to Bangalore, India, then you can bring one to Danville, Va.”

First off, Danville is hardly “rural” Virginia. It’s a town on the Dan River slowly but successfully recovering from the loss of its textile mills, but it’s hardly rural. And I’m sure they had broadband before Mark Warner brought it to them.

Now, go up US 29 a bit, say, to Blairs, White Oak, Sycamore or Motley and then you can maybe use the word rural.

(Disclaimer: I once edited a newspaper in Pittsylvania and Campbell counties Virginia, so I feel qualified to speak on this topic.)
