The Durham People’s Alliance, a group that calls itself
“progressive” but which is really socialist, doesn’t give a hoot about
due process or the notion that one is innocent until proven guilty.
Here is their “position” on the Duke lacrosse team rape allegations:

Durham People’s Alliance is committed to a community
where the perspectives of diverse groups such as different races,
economic classes, genders, religion, sexual orientations, ages, and
abilities are respected. A community where individuals have the
opportunity for a life of accomplishment, dignity, and pride.

Durham People’s Alliance knows that only by aggressively addressing
both racism and sexism will we be able to obtain real justice for
all. The PA recognizes that violence against one woman is
violence against us all. While acknowledging that steps are
being taken, Durham People’s Alliance remains concerned by the high
incidence of rape, racial prejudice and economic inequality within our
community

The Durham People’s Alliance recognizes and wholly supports the
struggle of this young woman. We applaud and support her refusal
to be silent and her willingness to stand up for justice, and we
absolutely condemn the violence she experienced in Durham.

How many left-wing cliches can one fit into three paragraphs?!
Though they don’t mention lacrosse players specifically (I’m sure they
think that lets them off the pre-judging hook), their saying “her
refusal to be silent and her willingness to stand up for justice”
clearly is intended to indict the lacrosse team and not some other
person who possibly did violence to this woman before she arrived at
the lacrosse party.

It is sad that this malignant group, which
has done more to polarize politics in Durham than any group or person
(excepting maybe Lavonia Allison) would abandon the basic principles of
justice, which they claim to champion. All the more depressing is that
they probably still give a presumption of innocence to Sacco and Vanzetti and the Rosenbergs.
