From Sen. Phil Berger’s office:

Brunstetter to Chair Judiciary I

Goolsby to Serve as Vice-Chair

Raleigh, N.C. ? Senate Republican Leader Phil Berger (R-Rockingham) announced today that Senator Pete Brunstetter (R-Forsyth) will serve as Chairman of the Senate Judiciary I Committee for the 2011-2012 session of the General Assembly. Senator Thom Goolsby (R-New Hanover) will serve as Vice-Chairman of the committee. The Judiciary I Committee has traditionally dealt with the state?s most complex legal issues including civil laws and regulations.

Sen. Berger said, ?Senator Brunstetter is one of the most diligent and deliberate legislators in the Senate. Working alongside Senator Goolsby, I know this committee will bring forward new ideas and a thoughtful approach to examining our state?s laws and regulations.?

?Reforming state government to work more efficiently and effectively for our citizens will be an important focus of the next session. I believe this committee can play a vital role in improving state laws and regulations to make North Carolina a better place to live and work,? said Sen. Brunstetter.
