Kinda lost in the ever-evolving developments surrounding the proposed aquatic center is the semi-related news that Greensboro’s Irwin Belk Track lost out to Myrtle Beach for the right to host the national youth track and field championship.

I know what Greensboro CVB president Henri Fourrier meant specifically when he said “we’re not used to losing, and I don’t like losing,” but his comments have a far broader meaning, considering the fact that a few public officials apparently have that attitude regarding the aquatic center.

Fourrier notes the economic impact the Junior Olympics had when the Belk Track played host back in the summer. If you believe the numbers, one event had more of an economic impact than a projected event schedule for an entire year at the aquatic center. The event schedule looks ambitious to me —- what are the odds the it could score each event?
