Speaking of government transparency, Carolina Journal Executive Editor Don Carrington appeared in both the News & Observer and Charlotte Observer this week in an article discussing the accessibility of Gov. Beverly Perdue. While the new governor earns high marks for making herself and her government records more open than her predecessor in the Executive Mansion, Perdue does not win any prizes for her tax proposals. Her plan to raise $1.6 billion in new taxes generated both a John Locke Foundation press release (highlighted on the ConservativeNC.com Web site) and a Daily Journal column from JLF President John Hood, which N.C. Senate Republicans highlighted in one of their daily e-mail blasts. Hood discussed his column during an appearance Thursday on the Keith Larson show on WBT Radio. Meanwhile, Joseph Coletti discussed Perdue’s tax proposals with Scott Fitzgerald on the WPTF Radio morning show.
