The House has given preliminary approval to a local-option sales tax for Wake, Durham, Orange, Guilford and Forsyth counties to fund mass transit.
Meanwhile, the bill —-co-sponsored by Rep. Pricey Harrison —- that would allow cities to fund election with taxpayer funds has passed the House.
I don’t see Guilford County commissioners —-especially this group — setting up a sales tax vote for mass transit, considering the fact that “they would have to adopt transit and finance plans to spell out how the money would be spent.”
As for the Greensboro City Council going for taxpayer-funded elections, well, that’s a totally different story……
