Sunday’s Durham Herald-Sun included comments from Don Carrington about
trips taken by members of Congress. The story noted that, in 2005, some
members of the North Carolina delegation missed the 30-day deadline
within which they must file information on their trips.
Carrington noted that transparency is key. “We want our elected
officials to be informed,” he told the paper. “The silly junket, I
guess, is in the eye of the beholder. Full and prompt disclosure is
necessary so that people are free to evaluate these things.”
