As pointed out by the N&O, former Gov. Mike Easley had nothing but good to say about transparency and government accountable when he signed new ethics guidelines into law in 2006:
North Carolina citizens have the right to know that the power they entrust to public officials is not abused for private gain or personal interest.
Maybe the Easleys think they’re entitled to a different standard.
