Inside Scoop reports that Greensboro City Council candidate Jay Ovittore has “promised to get a light rail system between Raleigh and Greensboro.”

Tunrs out there was a little light rail talk at yesterday’s PART board meeting. Results from a two-year feasibility study on light rail from Greensboro to Winston-Salem show that the Triad simply doesn’t have the density to support a light rail line. The report says only 1,000 riders per day would use a light rail system, while 10,000 riders per day would be required to make such a system viable.

So that’s that, right? Not exactly — the PART board voted to give unanimously voted to give staff 60 days to “to develop a plan for how to proceed with plans for rail.”
