North Carolina’s homegrown soft drink giant, PepsiCo, is having some troubles. Ad Age says falling sales will result in the layoff of thousands, a revamp of its brands and the closing of six plants. But first word of the brand revamp has me skeptical:
The white band in the middle of the logo will now loosely form a series of smiles. A “smile” will characterize brand Pepsi, while a “grin” is used for Diet Pepsi and a “laugh” is used for Pepsi Max. Also, Mountain Dew will be rebranded as Mtn Dew. The news was first reported in Beverage Digest.
Yeah. Changing Mountain to Mtn. in Mountain Dew’s packaging is going to make a world of difference.
