The Pope Center’s report challenging the need for the UNC tuition waiver given to graduates of the NC School of Science and Math generated a testy response from the school. The exchange between President Gerald Boarman and the team of George Leef and Shannon Blosser played out on the pages of the Raleigh News & Observer. Based on the continuing flow of news clips this week, an Associated Press story about the report was published in more places than first thought. Not only was the story of interest in the Triangle, where the school is based, but it also made papers in Statesville, Greenville and Rocky Mount.
