In North Carolina, the Presidential vote is separate from the rest of the ballot.  Usually there is a fade, sometimes significant between the Presidential vote and the remaining ballot.  In the large urban areas, and possibly the rest of the state, that axiom did not hold.

In Wake, Mecklenburg, Guilford and New Hanover, total votes case for President were only slightly higher than those cast for US Senate, Governor or Lt. Governor.   In Guilford County there were 240,708 votes cast for President and 213,4698 on the sales tax initiative (15% drop-off).
